U.S. stocks were trading higher Thursday on 29th July, 2010 at 3:20PM EDT as the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.16% to 10514, the Standard & Poor’s 500 jumped 0.03% to 1107 and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.04% to 2265.

CommScope Inc. (NYSE:CTV, $21.46, -$4.61, -17.68%), a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communications networks, on Wednesday reported an increase in the second quarter profit backed by higher revenues, but forecast weak third-quarter sales. CommScope reported second-quarter net earning of $44.2 million, or 43 cents per share, compared with $15.4 million, or 18 cents per share, in the same quarter a year earlier.

Nissan Motor Co. (PINK:NSANY, $15.82, +$1.10, 7.47%), Japan’s third- largest automaker, swung back to profit in the fiscal first quarter as auto demand recovered in North America and sales grew in Asia. Nissan reported first-quarter net income of 106.6 billion yen ($1.22 billion), compared with a 16.5 billion yen loss in the same quarter a year earlier.

Drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis SA (NYSE:SNY, $29.35, -$0.12, -0.41%) on Thursday reported net profit rose 61 percent to euro1.7 billion ($2.2 billion) in the second quarter. Sanofi-Aventis SA offers as much as $70 a share for Genzyme Corp. (NASDAQ:GENZ, $69.86, +$1.86, 2.74%), or about $18.7 billion.

Visa Inc (NYSE:V, $71.51, -$3.67, -4.88%), the world’s largest credit and debit card processing network, on Wednesday said its third-quarter profit slipped 2 percent, hurt by a sharp drop in investment income. The San Francisco company reported third-quarter net income of $716 million, or 97 cents per share, compared with $729 million, or 97 cents per share, in the same quarter a year earlier.

Vistaprint N.V. (NASDAQ:VPRT, $30.68, -$19.58, -38.96%), a provider of online printing and design services, on Wednesday reported that its fiscal fourth-quarter net income fell 21 percent on higher costs. Vistaprint N.V. reported net income fell to $11.7 million, or 26 cents per share, compared from $14.7 million, or 33 cents per share, in the same quarter a year earlier.
